This activity reviews Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), a common condition that impacts the lives of millions of people, is highly debilitating with a progressive disease course. Not surprisingly, costs related to medical treatment, medications, and job absenteeism for RA are higher than the general population. These direct costs have significant impact on total costs for RA patients and must be balanced with costs of newer therapies.
The content of this activity will provide the most up-to-date information for pharmacists who will be able to make educated decisions that impact not only the quality of patient care but also strengthen the health system.

This educational activity is designed for managed care and specialty pharmacists interested in the treatment of patients with RA.

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
• Assess efficacy and safety of biologic approaches to RA throughout the course of treatment
• Identify patients with RA who may require a change in therapy due to inadequate response or aggressive disease
• Critically evaluate available comparative clinical effectiveness data for the management of RA
