Overview / Abstract:	Target audience The enduring activity is intended for health care professionals, particularly physicians, clinical microbiologists, researchers, nurse, nurse practitioners and pharmacists, specializing in prevention and management of fungal infections. Learning objectives Upon completion of the educational activity, participants should be able to: -Discuss the role of new and old diagnostics in the prevention and management of invasive fungal infections Method of Participation In order to receive credit, participants should read the entire monograph, complete and submit an evaluation and score at least 70% on the self-assessment test. Presenters / Authors / Faculty	Faculty & credentials Kieren A. Marr, MD Kieren A. Marr, MD, FIDSA is a Professor of Medicine and Director of Transplant and Oncology in the Infectious Diseases Program at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. She is also a Professor of Oncology at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, and a Professor of Business at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School in Baltimore, MD. She received her medical degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her advanced training included an internship and residency in internal medicine at Duke University School of Medicine, where she also served as Assistant Chief Resident, and a fellowship in infectious diseases at the University of Washington and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Washington. She was faculty at UW / FHCRC for ten years prior to relocating to Johns Hopkins University in 2008, where she directs the Transplant and Oncology Infectious Diseases Program. Dr. Marr has published more than 150 articles, has written chapters in several books and served as Editor for the book Diagnosis of Fungal Infections and Section Editor for Infectious Diseases. Dr. Marr’s clinical and translational research focus has been on developing methods and clinical algorithms to prevent infectious complications, especially fungal infections, in immunocompromised patients. She has served as the principal investigator for several federal and industry supported studies and has won numerous awards, most recently, membership to the American Society for Clinical Investigation. Dr. Marr holds membership in the Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA), International Society for Human and Animal Mycology, American Society of Transplantation, and several other professional societies. She has served on the editorial boards for numerous journals, is the Editor in Chief of Current Infectious Diseases Reports, and is a section editor for Up to Date in Infectious Diseases. Dr. Marr serves on several committees and advisory bodies, including advisory boards for treatment guidelines published by IDSA, the American Thoracic Society, the American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation, the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
