Overview / Abstract:

Course Description:
This course contains a case simulation with a patient who has had a severe reaction to a yellow jacket sting. The learner will receive the patient history, and based on test results, choose the best way to treat the patient with immunotherapy. The learner will answer specific questions that explain the immunotherapy treatment, including benfits, risks, intervals, duration, and possibility of relapse to the patient. The learner will receive feedback for each decision that is made, and numerous references that discuss best practices for using allergen immunotherapy will be provided.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
Make appropriate treatment decisions for an adult male patient who suffered a reaction after a yellow jacket sting
Answer detailed questions about the immunotherapy treatment administered to the patient
Handle subsequent reactions with medications and adjustments to the treatment
