Zika: The New STI

Overview / Abstract:

Beginning in 2016, an epidemic of Zika virus began in Central and South America and rapidly spread to the United States. This module will outline what is currently known about how the Zika virus is spread sexually. The course will cover epidemiology of the Zika virus, known transmission pathways, as well as important counseling messages to enable patients to protect themselves and their children from Zika complications.

Target audience:

Health Care Professionals who care for persons who engage in sexual intercourse, male partners of child-bearing age females, and pregnant women. It is also appropriate for other professionals interested in learning more about the Zika virus, known transmission pathways and counseling advice for protection.
