ACTHIV: The American Conference for the Treatment of HIV 2018

Access Activity

Overview / Abstract:

The 12th annual ACTHIV is a state-of-the-science conference specifically targeted toward US front-line providers of care to persons at risk of, or with HIV infection.

ACTHIV is targeted toward frontline providers of persons at risk of or with HIV infection: physicians (both specialists and primary care/family medicine), advanced practice nurses, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, and medical case managers (including social workers).
Psychologists, mental health and substance abuse workers, treatment advocates, treatment educators, and other healthcare professionals involved in caring for those infected with HIV are also encouraged to attend.

At the conclusion of the conference, learners should be better able to:
• Review foundational concepts for diagnosing, treating and managing people with HIV and HCV
• Employ strategies for optimizing antiretroviral treatment for both treatment-naive and -experienced adults with HIV and HCV infection
• Incorporate best practices for addressing the complications and comorbidities which may arise in the care of individuals living with HIV
• Assess the evolving challenges and opportunities for managing hepatitis coinfection and liver disease in persons living with HIV.
• Analyze emerging issues which may impact the care provided to HIV positive individuals
• Review prevention strategies for populations at high risk of HIV infection and risk reduction strategies for patients currently infected with HIV
