Overview / Abstract: |
This activity has been updated and renewed with a new ACPE number for participants to complete beginning May 30, 2017 Based on the previous outcomes from the NECC and the MA Board of Registration in Pharmacy's decision to increase CE credit requirements in the compounding area of pharmacy practice, this course hopes to provide insight in the importance of sterile compounding based on USP -- specifically Sterility Testing and Final Release Checks. Currently many pharmacies follow the guidelines, however each institution may be at a different point in updating their facilities and practices to follow and ensure the best practices and outcomes for their patients. The hope is to bring awareness to one's current practice, validate the positive procedures and help identify where one is lacking. In addition, to help correct problems an institution may have had and prevent future errors, this course will provide useful information in the form of quizzes and take home points to foster further discussions at one's practice site. At the completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: -Determine CSP risk levels and their beyond use dating (BUD). This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of pharmacists who engage in or oversee sterile compounding practices. MCPHS University is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. |
