Overview / Abstract: |
This activity has been updated and renewed with a new ACPE number for participants to complete beginning July 2, 2018. The importance of proper cleaning and disinfection of controlled environments is critical for pharmacy compounding to prevent possible contamination of CSPs. The current practices are outlined in the USP but many pharmacists have difficulty interpreting this part of the chapter. The information in this session will improve the pharmacist's knowledge and understanding of how to prevent microbial contamination of the cleanroom, properly disinfect the controlled environments, understand when corrective action is needed to prevent possible contamination of the CSP from the environment. The course format will present several critical thinking challenges to see if the information presented can be applied at the work site. At the completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: Explain how disinfectants should be properly used to kill microorganisms. This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of pharmacists who engage in or oversee sterile compounding practices. MCPHS University is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. |
