Part 3: HIV Prevention: Strategies for Improving Linkage and Engagement in Care

Target Audience
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and other health professionals who care for patients from rural and underserved areas.

Program Overview
The lack of local healthcare professionals and transportation services in rural and underserved areas make it difficult for residents to access HIV prevention services, including pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). Fortunately, telemedicine has the potential to address these challenges and improve PrEP access and engagement in care. In Part 3 of the four-part series titled Preparing Primary Care Clinicians for PrEP: Addressing HIV Care Gaps in Rural and Underserved Communities, expert faculty will provide practical tips for integrating PrEP into routine clinical care, including best practices for implementing telemedicine. Guidelines for initiating and maintaining patients on PrEP will also be reviewed.
