Ethical Decision Making in Private Practice

Overview / Abstract:

This course will provide information on the theoretical foundations of clinical social work, and in addition will organize the typical ethical dilemmas that can emerge along the course of clinical service provision. Legal concepts such as malpractice, standards of care, and strategies to immunize one’s practice from potential malpractice claims will be addressed. The overriding theme in this ethics course is that the integration of ethical decision making into clinical practice provides the optimum malpractice immunization. The course includes references, resources, and suggested reading.
