Inhaler Device Counseling Technique

This course provides the fundamentals of coaching patients in proper inhaler technique. Included in the course package learners will receive placebo devices, online audiovisual classroom presentation supported by reference materials, and an individualized feedback session to guide health professionals in the delivery of effective inhaler device counseling. Prior to enrolling in Inhaler Device Counseling Technique (KE-CN#RSP002), health professionals are strongly encouraged to successfully complete Respiratory Drug Delivery Tools: Effective Use and Safety (KE-CN#RSP001). Pharmacists are encouraged to continue this course of study with the Essentials of Rx for Asthma (KE-CN#RSP003).



Learning Objectives

  1. Assess patient inhaler device technique using a proven assessment tool; and
  2. Demonstrate key points to cover while counseling patients regarding device use.
