Therapeutic taping has been used for over 100 years to improve function, reduce pain and prevent injury and has gained new attention with the advent of various types of elastic taping. With so many manufacturers of elastic taping and courses being offered it can be confusing which techniques to study, how to utilize these techniques and their efficacy.  This session will cover theory and practical application of proprioceptive elastic taping for the upper quadrant (cervicothoracic spine and glenohumeral scapular complex) based on current evidence, utilizing techniques introduced by a variety of leaders in the fields of physical therapy and athletic training including McConnell, Mulligan, Kenso Kase (Kinesio®) and athletic taping. It will be all-inclusive for orthopedic, neurologic, pediatric, geriatric and lymphedema conditions. Emphasis will be on clinical reasoning and critical thinking vs. cookbook approach, allowing the attendee to confidently and readily use the techniques with current research and clinical evidence.  Included will be a discussion of billing and reimbursement.
