This webinar, featuring Sebastian D. Schubl, MD, FACS, and Zachary M. Bauman, DO, MHA, includes a review of the growing literature on the use of surgical stabilization of rib fractures (SSRF). Emerging as the new standard of care, Drs. Schubl and Bauman discuss how SSRF compares with conventional treatment modalities related to length of hospital stay, thoracic deformity, pulmonary function, return to prefracture activities, as well as health care-related economics.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Analyze and apply the latest clinical study data on the use of surgical stabilization of rib fractures (SSRF).
  • Compare the patient benefits of SSRF compared with conventional treatment modalities, including length of hospital stay, tracheostomies, thoracic deformity, pulmonary function, and return to prefracture activities.
  • Discuss the health care-related economics of SSRF compared with conventional treatment modalities.
