In this MasterClass, Dr. Stephen Pflugfelder presents evidence that links inflammation and dry eye flares. Then, Dr. Elizabeth Yeu explains how dry eye disease can span the spectrum of management. By the end of this class, you will learn how to sensitively identify dry eye disease (DED) patients and, based on the risk factors and severity level of their disease, identify flares from maintenance management of DED.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Review the prevalence and patient satisfaction impact of dry eye flares in high volume anterior segment surgery/co-management practices
  • Discuss the keys for diagnosing signs and symptoms associated with episodic flares of OSD in a high volume setting
  • Review case experiences for making therapeutic decisions for patients with variable grades of acute exacerbations of dry eye disease
  • Discuss the short and long term outcomes and follow-up regimen for dry eye flare patients
