WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND
Health care is changing rapidly. Urgent and emergent conditions require rapid, accurate diagnosis and treatment decisions. This educational activity is delivered through nationally recognized leaders in Emergency Medicine. The course provides opportunities for attendees to learn about current and progressive trends in the practice of emergent, urgent, and critical care. The course provides a setting where attendees will practice their own decision-making and manual skills with concurrent feedback and instruction. The design is concise, short high yield sessions with audience participation. The course will enhance practitioner competencies in ECG interpretation, acute chest pain, pediatric emergent diagnostics and treatment, and care of sepsis intoxication, resuscitation, neurological emergencies, cardiac emergencies, pediatric emergencies, and ultrasound through the use of state-of-the-art teaching strategies, small group discussion, expert panels, with renowned faculty instructors.
EDUCATIONAL METHODS
Interactive lectures with expert panels will be utilized to facilitate dissemination of cutting-edge information.
Case studies and discussions will highlight conditions that are challenging in clinical practice.
Expert panel discussions will provide an opportunity for experts to present differing viewpoints on audience-driven topics.
Journal club to review key literature that informs clinical care.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Sepsis and care of the septic patient is evolving. The role of biomarkers in the care of adult and pediatric patients has changed. The approach to infants with fever has evolved to include the use of biomarkers.
Attendees will apply biomarkers in the evaluation of infants with fever.
Attendees will utilize updated guidelines in the evaluation and management of adult patients with sepsis.
Attendees will utilize updated guidelines in the evaluation and management of pediatric patients with sepsis.
Chest pain is a frequent complaint in Emergency Departments, Urgent Care settings, and primary care settings. Guidelines and the approach to patients with chest pain is evolving and diagnostic criteria are changing.
Attendees will recognize myocardial infarction with nonobstructive coronary arteries.
Attendees will utilize updated guidelines in the evaluation and management of patients with chest pain.
Attendees will treat wide complex tachycardia.
Attendees will apply an informed approach to children with chest pain.
Children living dependent upon medical technology have unique disease and presentations.
Attendees will approach children who are technology dependent with informed diagnostic modalities.
Dizziness is a symptom with a broad differential diagnosis and can be associated with serious illness and bad outcomes.
Attendees will use an informed approach to diagnosis and disposition in pediatric patients with dizziness.
ACCREDITATION
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) and UC Davis Health. AAEM is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Credit Designation Statement
The American Academy of Emergency Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 22 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
REGISTRATION
TUITION - Tuition is $895 for physicians and $795 for all others. Confirmation of registration will be sent within two weeks after receipt of registration form.
Tuition includes electronic syllabus, and a certificate of attendance. The Westin Reserva Conchal is an all inclusive property so all meals will be part of your hotel stay. For those staying at a different property, meals will not be included.
EARLY REGISTRATION DEADLINE - The fees will increase by $100 after Tuesday, April 30, 2024. Onsite registration fees will be an additional $200 above the early bird fees. Please contact events@ucdavis.edu if you are interested in daily registration rates.
