Overview / Abstract: |
The community pharmacist is positioned to engage patients in conversations about their health. Cardiovascular wellness has become a major focus through the Million Hearts™ Initiative that aims to prevent one million heart attacks and strokes over the next five years. Because of their close proximity to patients, community pharmacists are able to contribute to this initiative by providing screenings and education about blood pressure and cholesterol management, smoking cessation, aspirin and cardiovascular health, and impact of salt and dietary fat on cardiovascular health. These modules provide community pharmacists with the tools and resources to start outreach campaigns to support the Million Hearts™ Initiative.
