Disinfection with Peroxone

Access Activity

Overview / Abstract:

Description:

This course is intended for civil, environmental, and chemical engineers. However, this course could appeal to engineers of other disciplines as well. An attendee of this course will gain knowledge about the use of the ozone/hydrogen peroxide combination known as peroxone for disinfection and oxidation.

In this course, you need to review the material in the study guide, ‘Disinfection – Peroxone,’ which is part of the EPA Guidance Manual, Alternative Disinfectants and oxidants. Once you complete your course review, you need to take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of ten (10) questions to earn 2 PDH credits. The quiz will be based on the entire document.

Learning Objectives:

Be familiar with the chemistry of the peroxone disinfection/oxidation process.

Be familiar with the similarities and differences between the molecular ozone and peroxone processes.

Be familiar with general guidelines for the application of the peroxone process.

Be familiar with the advantages and disadvantages of peroxone use in comparison with other disinfection/oxidation processes.
