Overview / Abstract:

Visa and green card holders in the US are subject to detention and deportation if they commit a crime of moral turpitude including the willful failure to file tax returns and/or pay taxes due and owing. The panelists discuss the process to release detained taxpayers, including whether to disclose employer information and how to balance enforcement of immigration laws with the need to ensure that outstanding tax liabilities are collected.
