Overview / Abstract:

No matter what line of business we are in the subject of ethics is important. It is especially critical to those handling insurance products. Both the insurer and the agent have an obligation to each other to be truthful and honest with each other through their agency relationship. It is critical that we keep in mind what is right and what is wrong. Because insurance companies and agents are in a position of trust ethical behavior is paramount to perpetuating the industry and profession of each agent. By the end of Ethics for Agents, the agent will have an understanding of workplace ethics as it relates to the insurance industry. In addition, a section is devoted to ethics and the law. Other topics discussed are unlicensed practices, Agent accountability, Agent accountability to the principals as clients and Agent accountability to the companies they represent. It was written to meet the state’s 3 hour Ethics requirement.
