Overview / Abstract:

The objective of this course is for agents to be able to successfully identify what is ethics and understand how it applies to their current role as an insurance agent. Students will be familiar with the definition of ethics, as well as, the consequences of their actions when behaving inappropriately as an insurance agent. In addition, the student will learn the importance of the role as an insurance agent and how it could impact the community. The agent will discover the responsibilities involved with being an insurance agent, including: the duty of the agent to the prospect and policy-holder, the responsibility of the agent to the company, and the scope of authority the agent holds. The student will also be familiar with the agent's Due Care in ethical handling areas of choice of company, product, and sales presentations. The area of ethics is critical in the success of insurance professionals.
