Compounding Sterile Products: A Certificate Training Workshop for USP 797 & USP 800 Compliance & Law

Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician fee $1200

Learning Objectives for a Pharmacist & Pharmacy Technician:

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
-Discuss the California laws, regulations and standards that are basic to performing sterile compounding.
-Discuss new California regulations that impact sterile compounding
-Review changes that are needed to comply with new laws and regulations; examples would be changes in facilities or equipment, training, policies & procedures, new software, etc.
-Compare and contrast the different types of laminar air flow hoods and clean room.
-Define parenteral products and routes, and the necessity of aseptic compounding.
-Summarize the necessity of quality control.
-Discuss the risk of transmitting diseases through percutaneous injury.
-Evaluate physical/chemical terms such as tonicity, osmolarity, osmolality, compatibility, stability, and
compatibility used in sterile compounding.
-Demonstrate competency in the preparation of sterile IV and ophthalmic products.
-Define special population and its impact on all patients.
-Explain how to calculate the electrolytes needed for total parenteral nutrition (TPN).
-Demonstrate how to prepare cytotoxic agents accurately and safely..
