| Overview / Abstract: |
This course is targeted for Speech-Language Pathologists in acute and sub-acute rehabilitation settings. Couple and family therapists and some speech-language pathologists have recently begun to use solution-focused brief therapy to promote functional change in their clients lives. This session will illustrate how a solution-focused approach can also facilitate building partnerships between speech-language pathologists and members of their clients social network, including family members, and professional and paraprofessional staff in rehabilitation settings, A solution-focused approach can promote the creation of cooperative working relationships, improve goal achievement, and maximize generalization of goal-directed behaviors across partners and environments. In this program, I'll describe and provide examples of three solution-focused techniques that are well suited to acute and post-acute rehabilitation settings. |
