Overview / Abstract: |
Pharmacists are poised to expand their roles in asthma management, and there is much evidence indicating that doing so will improve outcomes, especially for patients with severe asthma. However, to do so pharmacists will need education regarding the current state of severe asthma management and emerging targeted biologic therapies. Pharmacists also need education on how to overcome barriers such as low patient confidence and interest in pharmacists as asthma management specialists, low pharmacist confidence in providing higher-level asthma self-management education, and low communication levels between pharmacists and other HCPs.
