Pharmacy Law Update 2020

Overview / Abstract:	Target Audience Pharmacists and technicians in all practice settings. Why Attend Pharmacy Law is dynamic and changes frequently because of various reasons: changes in the scope of practice, medication errors, theft, drug abuse, changes in accreditation standards, national standards, etc. Within the past five years, several laws have changed that affected the practice of pharmacy. Pharmacists must keep current in their practice to reflect these changes in the law. Objectives: 1. List upcoming legislative issues and their potential effect on pharmacy practice. 2. Summarize current updates in NYS laws governing pharmacy practice including, but not limited to: mandatory electronic prescribing, immunizations and changes in the dispensing of medications in New York State. 3. Identify the current regulations surrounding the dispensing of naloxone and buprenorphine 4. Discuss the regulations governing Medical Marijuana in NYS 5. Review current regulations involving pharmacist’s responsibility in handling hazardous waste and drug disposal.
