DME in the Real World: Treatments Past, Present, and Future

Overview / Abstract:

This FREE enduring activity features the recorded satellite symposium, "DME in the Real World: Treatment Past, Present, and Future", which was presented at the 2017 American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Annual meeting. The goal of this educational initiative is to provide clinical practice examples and evidence-based scientific review of evolving issues in DME. This activity is intended to enhance patient care methods and disease state knowledge amoung ophthalmologists and retina specialists.

Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

- Review the history of therapeutic options for DME.
- Explain the role inflammation plays in the pathogenesis of DME.
- Discuss the current landscape of DME including pivotal trials and subset analyses (RISE/RIDE, VIVID/VISTA, MEAD, FAME, EARLY).
- Review real-world studies and current phase IV studies involving corticosteroids, including REINFORCE.
- Describe large database and practice survey studies to better identify real-world treatment patterns.
- Discuss clinical trials currently in development for treatment of DME including: RUBY, BOULEVARD, CLS-1004.
