Overview of the Fundamentals of Pharmacotherapy for Disorders of the Central Nervous System

At the conclusion of this session, the participant will be able to:

Describe the fundamentals of neurotransmission
List the sites of action of drugs that are used for CNS disorders
List and describe the most common characteristics of neurotransmitters associated with the CNS
List the drugs most commonly prescribed for the disorders discussed
Compare and contrast the relative efficacy of drugs used to treat each disorder
List the commonly encountered and potential serious adverse effects associated with all drugs discussed.
