Ultrasound Guided Regional Anesthesia

Access Activity

Overview / Abstract:

Ultrasound Guided Regional Anesthesia Training Course is designed for medical professionals seeking to integrate ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia techniques for surgery, pain management, or procedural applications such as fracture reduction into their clinical practice. These courses are taught by leading anesthesiologists and emergency medicine ultrasound experts that incorporates comprehensive lectures and interactive case presentations that features a 3:1 faculty to participant hands-on scan ratio with both live models (anatomy) and inanimate phantoms (interventional techniques). This course is specifically designed for physicians, sonographers and other medical professionals who need ultrasound guided regional anesthesia (UGRA) training in a surgical and pain management setting. GCUS offers one (1) day ultrasound guided regional anesthesia courses at our facility in St. Petersburg, FL. GCUS offers ultrasound guided regional anesthesia training as a stand alone one (1) day course, or as part of a two (2) day program with ultrasound guided vascular access. In the two (2) day program, participants will learn central and peripheral line placement as well as upper and lower extremity nerve blocks and miscellaneous other new blocks.

Upon completion of this activity the learner should be able to:

Increase the participants’ knowledge and competence to perform Ultrasound-Guided Regional Anesthesia procedures.
Demonstrate proper transducer manipulation and system optimization to produce diagnostic images.
List the advantages of using ultrasound-guided nerve block techniques.
Identify and distinguish the topographic and cross-sectional brachial plexus anatomy.
Demonstrate imaging techniques for performing ultrasound-guided upper extremities regional anesthesia nerve blocks.
Demonstrate imaging techniques for performing ultrasound-guided lower extremities anesthesia nerve blocks on live models.
Perform PECC and TAP blocks using ultrasound guidance
Increase confidence to incorporate protocols, scan techniques, and interpretation criteria to integrate the skills learned into clinical practice.
