Michael E. Wechsler, MD and Jonathan Corren, MD, discuss the clinical differentiation of asthma subgroups and the characterization of inflammatory pathways, as well as biomarkers for severe asthma and their application to clinical practice. They review the latest treatment options, focusing on new biologic-based targeted therapies, differentiating between biologic agents and their mechanism of action, as well as the latest safety and efficacy data of targeted therapy.
