Overview / Abstract: |
As treatment options for food allergies are being developed, the only effective measure for patients to avoid harm from food allergies is to carefully read labels and avoid exposure to allergenic food triggers. Labeling laws are in effect in many countries to identify priority food allergens (and related ingredients) in food products. However, proper understanding of labels and risks associated with certain ingredient or label statements remains difficult and accidental exposures to hidden allergens in products are a persistent problem. |
