Low-Dose Aspirin: the 'Heavy-Weight' Champion for Primary Prevention in All Patients? - Pharmacists

Access Activity

Overview / Abstract:

Low-dose daily aspirin is ubiquitously prescribed in health practices and used over-the-counter by many patients. However, recent studies and expert guidance suggest that NOT everyone is a candidate and that low-dose, daily aspirin may cause more harm than benefit in certain instances. This application-based continuing pharmacy education course provides a 'journal club format' discussion for pharmacists and student pharmacists to review a recent study on the impact of bodyweight on aspirin dose. Join us to discuss the strengths, limitations, and implications of this work on primary care practice and when prescribing and de-prescribing aspirin may be appropriate.
