Overview / Abstract: |
Musculoskeletal pain is very common, especially in primary care settings. However, surveys have shown that many primary care providers (PCPs) find it challenging to perform the proper physical examinations for accurate musculoskeletal pain diagnoses. Therefore, they rely on imaging and unnecessary referrals to specialists, which increase healthcare costs and create unnecessary delays in optimal care.
“Common Musculoskeletal Complaints from Head to Toe” will enable PCPs to better examine and assess patients who present with neck, shoulder, back, or knee complaints. After completing this activity, PCPs will be better able to determine if musculoskeletal symptoms warrant diagnostic imaging and/or orthopedic consultation. EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES - At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to demonstrate the ability to: - Conduct a focused history on the patient presenting with neck, shoulder, back, or knee complaints |
