Overview / Abstract: |
Insomnia is among the most common disorders encountered by primary care clinicians, with an estimated 5.5 million annual visits. Unfortunately, training regarding screening, assessment, and management is often insufficient. In addition, several medications commonly prescribed are not indicated for insomnia, which leads to sub optimal outcomes. Traditional agents have significant drawbacks, such as adverse events, potential for abuse, memory disruption, and more. Newer and emerging agents more effectively reduce wakefulness throughout the night without daytime safety issues and with reduced adverse events. This web activity is presented by 3 sleep experts, and will feature a didactic lecture with the most current data and case-based presentations as well as a moderated Q&A session. |
