Overview / Abstract: |
Conference Overview: In a Journal of Pain Research 2017 survey among primary care providers, 61% reported a "lack of confidence in managing patients with chronic pain." Clinicians describe concerns about opioid-related overdose, substance use disorders and the rapidly changing environment surrounding pain management. Additionally, clinical guidelines discourage prescribing opioids for chronic pain but often do not outline opioid tapering protocols. The Pain Management Summit will help address these challenges with evidence-based, practical approaches to managing chronic pain, from the basic to the advanced. A multidisciplinary team of experts will discuss neurobiological pain mechanisms, non-opioid and integrative treatment options, and approaches to coordinated and interventional care. Highlights include: complex case studies, time for interaction with faculty as well as mock patient encounters, and scripting techniques. Educational Objectives: |
