Therapy Tidbits – July/August 2019 is a 1-hour online continuing education (CE) course comprised of select articles from the July/August 2019 issue of The National Psychologist, a private, independent bi-monthly newspaper intended to keep psychologists informed about practice issues. The articles included in this course are: TPE Audits Target High Volume Providers – Provides an overview of the Target, Probe and Educate (TPE) audit process and highlights the ways in which this process may be difficult for practitioners. Employee vs Independent Contractor – Why it Matters – Outlines the criteria for determining if a clinician should be designated as an employee or independent contractor. ACA Survives Cut in Penalties but Courts Will Have Final Say – Explains the detail of the upcoming court case Texas v. Azar and how the outcome may affect clinicians and their patients. Integrated Healthcare in the ICU – Outlines a suggested model for integrating a mental health professional in the critical and intensive care units (ICUs) of general hospitals. Using CQ (Couple Intelligence) in Couples Counseling – Discusses how Couples Intelligence may be used to benefit the counseling relationship. Telepsychology Takes Special Training – Provides essential elements to consider before launching a telepsychology practice. Research Promising for Suicide Prevention – Introduces the Implicit Association Tests (IAT’s) and explains how these may help in the prevention of suicide.
