The Spanish speaking population has grown tremendously over the past few decades and healthcare providers in many areas of the country are challenged to communicate with this expanding patient population.The goal of this conference is to teach basic, intermediate and advanced Medical Spanish language skills in the classroom and to implement the usage of these skills with native Spanish speakers in an immersion setting. At the conclusion of this conference, participants should be able to improve their knowledge of Medical Spanish with a minimum of the ability to converse and take basic medical histories from Spanish speaking patients and have the ability to give simple commands and instructions to this patient population. Intermediate and Advanced students will focus on improving their knowledge of Medical vocabulary and use of verbs and proper tenses.

SUNDAY, August 30, 2020 - 5.0 Hours CME
​1:00pm-6:00pm
Beginner: Introductions and skills assessment. Introduction to alphabet and numbers. Basic medical history questions. Important verbs and forms of courtesy.
Intermediate: Same agenda as the beginner class.

MONDAY, August 31, 2020 - 5.0 Hours CME
​7:00am-9:00am
Beginner: Phrasing and vocabulary for performing specific physical tasks and physical exams.
Intermediate: Mock Clinic to practice instruction.
​4:00pm-7:00pm
Beginner: Verbal commands in emergency situations. Medically related Spanish words and expressions for pain, body parts, discomfort, and medical symptoms.
Intermediate: Phrasing for specific tasks and verbal commands for emergency situations.

TUESDAY, September 1, 2020- 5.0 Hours CME

Beginner: Pregnancy and delivery. Specialty specific questions and answers submitted by students.
Intermediate: Same agenda as beginner class.
4:00pm-7:00pm
Beginner: Grammar instruction and practice.
Intermediate: Relating medical test results and vocabulary.

WEDNESDAY, September 2, 2020 - 5.0 Hours CME
7:00am-9:00am
Beginner: Relating of medical test and their results. Review of all topics learned with emphasis on areas that students may have questions about. Closing remarks and course evaluation.
Intermediate: Mock clinic to practice instruction. Review of any topics with questions. Closing remarks and evaluation.
4:00pm-7:00pm
Beginner: Relating of medical test and their results. Review of all topics learned with emphasis on areas that students may have questions about. Closing remarks and course evaluation.
