Overview / Abstract: |
Conference Overview: Geriatric patients face an array of complex medical and social issues. The number and types of settings in which primary care clinicians deliver care to the elderly, as well as the scope of disabilities and chronic diseases present in these patients, impact daily clinical practice. Applying evidence-based medical care and implementing public health efforts can help promote and preserve the health of aging adults. Due to a growing, aging population and a shortage of geriatricians in the U.S., the care of geriatric patients will mostly devolve to primary care. As such, appropriate training and continuing education is imperative to managing multiple chronic medical conditions and the unique care of older patients. This Geriatric Update highlights current resources and practical approaches to improve health outcomes. Experts will present lectures on new screening tools, medication reviews, communication strategies, case studies and more. Educational objectives |
