Case Studies in Managing Hepatitis Co-Infection in Those with HIV: Clinical Pearls – A STEP-HIV Initiative

Access Activity

Overview / Abstract:

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the latest activity in a series of Special Training for Effective Providers in HIV (STEP-HIV) initiatives to promote HIV workforce development.

This CME/CNE-Certified web activity focuses on Hepatitis C, which remains a leading cause of liver-related mortality in people living with HIV infection (PLWH). Through a series of cases, this session will provide members of the care team with practical knowledge they can apply to patient care regarding how to manage and counsel those with HIV/HCV coinfection, and offer clinical pearls specific to direct-acting antiviral therapy and liver cancer screening in this key population.

After participating in the activity, learners should be better able to:
Evaluate and counsel a patient with HIV/HCV coinfection;
Identify the clinical factors involved in the choice of hepatitis C treatment in people living with HIV; and
Describe the importance of incorporating liver cancer screening in selected patients with hepatitis C infection.
