Overview / Abstract: |
Drug interactions have always been a complicated issue for health care providers. Since more than half of U.S. adults regularly take prescription medications and at least 75% of Americans take at least one over-the-counter product along with their prescription meds, the currently increasing use of CBD products makes the Pharmacists drug monitoring role even more difficult. With each passing day, it becomes more important that all health care providers and especially Pharmacists, be prepared to design reliable programs addressing how CBD and other cannabis components interact with commonly used pharmaceuticals, not only to anticipate and avoid problematic outcomes but also be able to identify and take advantage of situations where CBD and pharmaceuticals can interact in a positive way. With Pharmacists being nationally recognized as the leading drug experts, Pharmacists can get the information needed to identify the possible health benefits of CBD that have garnered a great deal of attention with their patients, and use this new knowledge to; Confidently address the concerns of their patients, Determine the best CBD products to stock & market, And prevent ADRs, drug toxicities, and reduced pharmacological effects, all of which will significantly improve patient outcomes, and strengthen the confidence patients have in their Pharmacist. |
