An Introduction to Market Access and Health Economics and Outcomes Research

Overview / Abstract:

This CE will cover roles pharmacists can have in an industry setting and details how value can be communicated for pharmaceutical products and medical devices. Currently there are a number of products on the market that can be used to improve patient outcomes. This presentation will inform pharmacists of different ways that value can be measured and studied in real-world settings. Additionally, patient access to appropriate medications are important, and this presentation will review the process of how access is achieved.This presentation will provide resources for pharmacists to learn more about these functional areas and learn about potential collaborations or opportunities to conduct outcomes research.Interactive learning will be embedded throughout the virtual presentations.

Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

Define market access and health economics and outcomes research (HEOR)

Describe the role of market access and HEOR functions within the biopharmaceutical and device industry

Explain the different decision-makers and stakeholders in the health care system

Identify key trends within industry and HEOR
