The Medical Marijuana Certification Course has been approved by the Pennsylvania Board of Health as meeting the CME requirements necessary for physicians to participate in the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Program. This activity will help Pennsylvania physicians make informed decisions regarding medicinal cannabis treatments for their patients. It provides an evidence based analysis of marijuana’s efficacy, risks and benefits in treating the Pennsylvania list of approved conditions. The science, safety, and impact of medical marijuana will be explored, in order to enhance physician knowledge of this emerging healthcare resource. Topics include safest practices, addiction, dosing, cannabidiol, THC, indicas vs. sativas, physical and cognitive safety issues, impact on mental health, risk management/mitigation and the balance between medical marijuana and opioids. |
