Overview / Abstract:

Target Audience
This activity is intended for primary care physicians, geriatric specialists, and neurologists, as well as physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nurses involved in the diagnosis and management of Alzheimer disease.

Program Overview
This Clinical Consultations™ is a video-based program in which two experts use a case-based approach to discuss opportunities for earlier diagnosis and management of Alzheimer disease. In this activity the faculty focus on current and emerging diagnostic strategies that may allow for lifestyle interventions and earlier treatment to slow progression of Alzheimer disease. This engaging format is designed to help clinicians identify best practices in the diagnosis and management of Alzheimer disease and to improve outcomes for their patients with this disease.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

Identify pathophysiologic hallmarks of Alzheimer disease
Describe the role of beta-amyloid related neuroimaging in emerging Alzheimer disease diagnostic and treatment paradigms
Discuss new and emerging strategies for early identification of patients at risk for Alzheimer disease
Apply multidisciplinary management and shared decision making to improve long-term patient outcomes
