Access Activity

Overview / Abstract:

Target Audience
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of clinicians currently treating people in the LGBTQ+ community.

Program Overview
We have made tremendous progress in treating HIV, but we still have an epidemic, with about 38,000 new HIV cases identified each year. Learn from expert faculty about how pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) can virtually eliminate HIV, who is eligible for PrEP, and how to monitor patients using PrEP. You will also hear stories from people in the LGBTQ+ community who are currently using PrEP.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

Assess eligibility for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) among patients seen in your practice
Identify barriers to initiating and sustaining PrEP and utilize strategies to overcome them
Implement monitoring recommendations for PrEP
Assess the benefits and considerations for current and emerging PrEP therapies
