Point-of-Care Clinical Decision-Making: Test Your Skills in Evidence-Based HCV Management

Access Activity

Overview / Abstract:

Target Audience
This educational activity is intended for infectious disease specialists, gastroenterologists, hepatologists, primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other health care providers who interact with HCV-positive patients.

Program Overview
This virtual activity provides dynamic content, divided among 3 distinct clinical scenarios. Each clinical scenario will involve the participant’s decision-making and interaction with 2 virtual clinicians to gain their perspectives and feedback on management of hepatitis C virus (HCV) care and cure. One virtual clinician is a peer with whom the learner is collaborating, while the other is an expert in managing the given HCV-related circumstances. Scenarios also include virtual patient interactions and provide examples of best practices in patient-centered care for support of adherence, satisfaction, and outcomes.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the educational activity, participants should be able to:

Apply prevailing guidelines for HCV universal screening and risk-based periodic testing.
Provide guideline-based HCV care for treatment-naive patients with HCV monoinfection or HCV in HIV/HCV coinfection.
Engage in patient-centered care across the HCV-care continuum, incorporating harm-reduction principles and practices.
