Overview / Abstract:

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to address the educational needs of cardiologists, hospitalists, interventional cardiologists, internists, primary care physicians (PCPs), clinical pharmacists, hematologists, and other clinicians who are involved or interested in the medical management of patients with venous thromboembolism (VTE) and/or at risk for VTE.

Program Overview

Faculty take a close look at validated VTE risk assessment models to predict a medical patient’s risk for VTE in the post-discharge period, along with findings from trials of direct acting anticoagulants.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
Describe recommended VTE screening strategies for hospitalized medically ill patients, such as patient VTE risk-stratification tools, criteria, and other evidence-based methods
