Access Activity

Overview / Abstract:

Target Audience
The target audience will be comprised of allergists, dermatologists, specialty nurse practitioners, specialty physician assistants, and managed care/pharmacy directors.

Program Overview
Chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) is a chronic immune-mediated condition characterized by sudden development of wheals and/or angioedema, as well as presenting with significant debilitation and considerable burden on patients’ quality of life. The diagnosis and management of CSU is complex, and despite currently available treatment options, many patients with CSU remain inadequately controlled. As a result, many health care professionals may miss opportunities to deliver evidence-based care utilizing safe and effective, targeted therapies. Join our expert faculty as they discuss patient scenarios to highlight methods to avoid missed opportunities for the care team, develop curative (as opposed to prophylactic symptom control) strategies, and ultimately provide optimal care for patients with CSU.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

Discuss diagnostic criteria for chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) and how the condition presents differently in patients of color
Compare the efficacy and safety trial data of therapies for CSU that are in late-stage clinical development
Apply shared decision-making to help patients and caregivers identify the risks and benefits of each CSU therapy
