Activity Overview
This Expert Illustrations and CommentariesTMis a video-based program in which 2 experts discuss the etiology and management of uveitic macular edema (UME). In this activity, the faculty focus on the pathophysiology, imaging and other diagnostic strategies, and current and emerging therapies for the management of UME. Their discussion is enriched with the use of video animation to illustrate the disease process and the mechanism of action of corticosteroid therapy. The use of these animated segments helps make somewhat complicated subject matter more easily understood. This unique format is designed to help clinicians identify best practices in the diagnosis and management of UME and to improve outcomes for their patients with this disease.
Target Audience
This educational activity is directed toward comprehensive ophthalmologists, retinal specialists, and other health care professionals involved in the treatment of patients with uveitis and macular edema associated with uveitis.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:
• Review the underlying processes by which UME develops and progresses
• Create efficient and accurate strategies to diagnose UME and track patients’ treatment response
• Apply recent clinical trial data on efficacy and safety to optimize individualized treatment planning for patients with UME
