Virtual Case Studies in Pustular Psoriasis: Refining Our Approaches to the Assessment of Our Patients

Access Activity

Overview / Abstract:

Target Audience
These activities will be directed towards a primary target audience of dermatologists and a secondary target audience of PCPs, emergency medicine physicians, pharmacists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, fellows, and residents. Additional healthcare clinicians involved in the management of patients with GPP and/or PPP will also be permitted to participate.

Activity Overview
Pustular psoriasis is a rare, severe, relapsing/remitting, multisystem disease that can be difficult to treat. It is characterized by a sudden, either widespread or localized eruption of superficial sterile pustules. When systemic complications occur, pustular psoriasis can become life-threatening. Therefore, timely diagnosis and treatment are important. However, given the rarity of the disease, its heterogeneous presentation, and the lack of consistent classification, it can be difficult to diagnose. This program uses patient/provider vignettes and a panel of expert faculty to provide clinicians with practical approaches to identifying symptoms of patients and enhance their ability to make an accurate diagnosis, provide an individualized management plan for them, and ultimately improve long-term outcomes.

Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:

Identify the clinical manifestations of pustular psoriasis
Apply evidence-based strategies to support a prompt and timely diagnosis
Describe inflammatory mediators that are implicated in the pathophysiology of pustular psoriasis
Assess clinical trial evidence evaluating investigational therapies for the management of pustular psoriasis
