Individualizing Treatment for Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps: Novel Options for Optimizing Outcomes - Part 1

Access Activity

Overview / Abstract:

Target Audience

Physician specialists (allergists, immunologists, ENTs) and primary care providers who may treat patients with CRSwNP.

Program Overview

Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is a chronic condition associated with multiple comorbidities and decreased quality of life. It is a condition characterized by inflammation of the sinonasal mucosa and clinical symptoms including congestion, rhinorrhea, hyposmia or anosmia, and pain or pressure in the face. Advances in understanding of the underlying pathology for CRSwNP has resulted in novel biologic therapies for its treatment.

This activity will provide specialists a multidisciplinary and rounded perspective for managing CRSwNP. Expert faculty consisting of ENT surgeons and an allergist/immunologist will review the latest clinical evidence for the treatment of CRSwNP and give their perspectives on the role of steroids, surgery, and biologics for the management of CRSwNP.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

Describe the underlying pathophysiology of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps
Identify the rationale for immunomodulation in the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps
Evaluate the mechanism of action, safety, and efficacy of biologics for the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps
Assess the role of steroids, surgery, and biologics and implement strategies to individualize treatment for patients with chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps on patient preferences and needs
