Overview / Abstract: |
Paraphilic Infantilism is a 1-hour online continuing education (CE) course that defines and describes three not widely known paraphilias, which overlap to some degree, but remain diverse: infantilism, diaperism, and erotic lactation. Illustrative case histories of infantilism, diaperism, and erotic lactation are provided. The state of scientific knowledge and even the data on their incidences are quite limited. Further, many participants are simply not interested in changing or receiving any treatment because they have adjusted to a life of minimal social contacts or are enjoying stable relationships with consenting partners who hold similar interests. However, mention is made of the current preferred therapeutic choice for paraphilic disorders. At the end of the course a brief discussion is offered on the wisdom of pathologizing unusual behaviors that are rewarding and legal, albeit very unconventional.
