Dr Lisa Larkin is a board-certified internist, business owner, and entrepreneur practicing internal medicine and women’s health in both academic and private practice since 1991 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She received her medical degree from the Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut, and then completed an internal medicine residency with the University of Chicago Hospitals, Pritzker School of Medicine, in Chicago, Illinois.

Dr Larkin is owner and President of Lisa Larkin, MD, and Associates, an independent multi-specialty internal medicine and women’s health direct primary care practice, as well as founder and CEO of Ms.Medicine, a concierge women’s health care organization. Dr Larkin is also founder and Executive Director of the nonprofit Cincinnati Sexual Health Consortium, and serves as Director of Women’s Corporate Health for TriHealth. She formerly (2012-2016) served as Associate Professor and Division Director of Midlife Women’s Health at the University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Medicine and as Director of the UC Health Women’s Center. Dr Larkin is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH), and is certified as a menopause clinician by the North American Menopause Society (NAMS). Additionally, she serves on the board of directors of ISSWSH and the board of trustees of NAMS.

Dr Larkin is passionate about raising the standard of evidence-based care for women and devotes considerable time to women’s health advocacy efforts. Most recently, she launched a direct-to-consumer breast cancer risk assessment and prevention program. Considered a national expert in menopause management and sexual medicine, Dr Larkin is also well known as a clinician and community educator, publisher, lecturer, and expert media resource. Her work has led to publications in peer-reviewed journals such as Menopause, Mayo Clinic Proceedings, and OBG Management.

Dr Mary Jane Minkin is a clinical professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at the Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut. She has been in private practice in New Haven for more than 40 years. Dr Minkin is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and practices at Yale New Haven Hospital. She earned her medical degree from Yale Medical School and her undergraduate degree from Brown University. Dr Minkin completed both her internship and medical residency at Yale New Haven Hospital—the former in internal medicine, the latter in obstetrics and gynecology.

Dr Minkin is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG) and a North American Menopause Society (NAMS) Certified Menopause Practitioner. Since 2008, she has been Director of the Smilow Sexuality and Intimacy Program at Yale New Haven Hospital. Dr Minkin has also been Director of the Yale Obstetrical and Gynecological Society (YOGS) since its inception in 2006. She actively serves on numerous committees, notably for more than 30 years as Faculty Representative of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology on the Yale New Haven Hospital Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.

Dr Minkin has won numerous teaching awards, including the Irving Friedman Award, given by the Yale School of Medicine’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology for excellence in clinical abilities and patient care, and the Francis Gilman Blake Award, awarded by the graduating class to the clinical attending who taught them best. She has twice received the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics Excellence in Teaching Award, annually awarded to one faculty member from each member teaching institution, and three times been awarded the Resident’s Teaching Award for Best Community Attending Physician. In addition, she has been a member of the Society of Distinguished Teachers in the Yale School of Medicine since 2002. In 2018, she was named Educator of the year by NAMS and was named one of the Distinguished Faculty at the commemoration of 100 Years of Women at the Yale School of Medicine. Dr Minkin has been named a “Top Doc” by Connecticut Magazine numerous times. In 2009, she was honored by The Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame for her significant contributions to the care and well-being of Connecticut citizens.

Dr Minkin is a leader in women’s health education both inside and outside the medical community. She manages “Madame Ovary,” a popular website where she writes about menopause, gynecology, and sexual health for women. Dr Minkin is lead author or co-author of articles in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals. She has written 7 books, including The Yale Guide to Women’s Reproductive Health, A Woman’s Guide to Menopause and Perimenopause, and A Woman’s Guide to Sexual Health (each co-authored with Carol Wright); and a Manual of Management Counseling for the Perimenopausal and Menopausal Patient (co-authored with Karen Giblin). For many years, she served as the Women’s Health advisor for Prevention™ Magazine, and contributed to a monthly column, “Talk to the Doctor,” for this periodical. Dr Minkin is the expert for WebMD’s Menopause Community. She also served on the editorial board for The Good Housekeeping Illustrated Book of Pregnancy & Baby Care. Finally, she has been medical advisor and lecturer for the country’s leading menopause education and support group, PRIME PLUS/Red Hot Mamas®, for 25 years.

Dr Minkin is nationally known in the field of gynecology. She is often interviewed and quoted in the print and broadcast media, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, People Magazine, and BuzzFeed. Dr Minkin was the women’s health commentator and a frequent guest on Faith Middleton’s recently retired Peabody Award-winning show on National Public Radio. She participated in a cross-country lecture series with Dr Ruth Westheimer on postmenopausal sex and has spoken at the 92nd Street Y in New York City on hormone replacement therapy. Dr Minkin has spoken extensively on a diverse set of important women’s health issues, more recently with greater focus on peri- and post-menopausal management, including intimacy and sexuality for breast and gynecological cancer survivors.
