Part 3: HIV Prevention - Optimizing PrEP Adherence and Engagement

Access Activity

Overview / Abstract:

Target Audience
This activity is designed specifically for primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and other health professionals who serve patients in rural and underserved communities.

Program Overview
The burden of HIV disproportionately impacts rural and underserved parts of the country due to disparities in access to HIV care and prevention, including pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). This activity, which is Part 3 of a four-part series titled Ending the HIV Epidemic: Strategies to Increase PrEP Uptake in Rural and Underserved Communities, will review recommendations for HIV testing and the latest clinical evidence surrounding current and emerging PrEP regimens. Expert faculty will also share strategies to improve adherence to therapy and increase patient engagement in HIV care.

This activity is a recording from a two-part webinar series that took place in March 2022. Please note that any data, information, and guidance presented in the activity are subject to change.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

Integrate HIV testing recommendations into clinical practice
Evaluate current and emerging PrEP formulations based on safety, efficacy, and dosing profiles
Apply the latest clinical evidence and treatment recommendations to the management of patients on PrEP
